Well I definitely need to turn the pump up. It was pretty cold the other day but I couldn't get anymore than 7-800F out of the engine pulling it as hard as it would go. I had a pretty good load in the dump trailer (a whole stone fireplace and chimney) and I seemed to be down power. Couldn't build as much boost as before. The diesel shop said the cracking pressures on my injectors were low. Raising the cracking pressure I would think would have the affect of retarding the timing some and shortening the duration of the injection assuming that a lower pressure allows it to open sooner and close later.
So start out with a couple of turns on the full fuel screw and a couple turns down on the star wheel?
If sometime during my tuning I end up with a runaway will the manual fuel shut off work or do I need to have the air cleaner off ready to starve it for air?
I did find a water to air aftercooler and matching injector lines for the old girl so I do have an option if EGT's get too hot.
