Dead Pedal.....

Postby 90_midnightmadness » Fri Mar 06, 2015 8:26 pm

So a couple weeks ago or so I installed a 3200 gov. spring. I have drove the truck quite a bit on the weekends and never had an issue until today. Today I left the shop and started to lay into it and it didn't respond, just fell to idle. I drove it some more and it continued to do it. It doesn't die it just falls to idle. If I push in the clutch, tap the throttle it comes right out of it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is your fuel shut off solenoid gutted?

No, it's still intact. I'm gonna drive it tomorrow and see what it does. The truck acted like it was fueling harder then normal but I'm not entirely sure, could have just felt that way becaus it was acting right. Maybe the govener is doing something funny.

When I had my fuel shut off solenoid go bad ( ripped the tip off the plunger ). I had a "dead pedal", meaning I had idle, and I could accelerate slowly, but if I got on it or tried quick, it would just have a dead pedal.

fuel filter can also cause the same issue.

When I get to the shop in the morning I'll throw a filter on it and see how it acts. I have new solenoid somewhere, so if it keeps it up I can try that. Thanks I'll let you know what I can figure out. Govener just had me concerned, probably just thinking the worst.

Are you the one with big injectors, etc., etc., and stock diaphragm lift pump? That would probably do it.

I didn't think it was the lift pump because it would do it just coming off idle, so it should have maintained fuel pressure. That and it was sudden. No in between, idle or acceleration. It would also stay running fine most of the time. It's getting a lift pump thrown on it next weekend.

Anyways, it came down to a bad wire/ connection for the fuel shut off. Just overlooked it thinking of the worst.
