fuel leak

Postby countrymoparguy » Sun Mar 08, 2015 6:20 pm

So on my 93 I was driving home tonight and started smelling fuel. Luckily I was just a mile from home and got it in the garage safely. Started it up and looked under the hood, fuel is squirting up between the injection pump and block. Truck still starts and runs fine. Is there a fuel line that runs off the back side of the pump that may have cracked? Thanks for the help

And one other thing, anyone know where I can either get a new throttle rod or the ends for it? The metal clips inside the ends of mine are gone, so throttle rod is zip tied to it

The line from the lift pump to the injection pump goes between the head and block

There is also a return line that runs from the pump, along the block, under the intake and connects to a T in the return line from the injectors at the back of the head.

I know because I had to replace it.

Thanks for the replies, got it fixed. Ended up being a o-ring that blew out from a screw that had loosened up.

Now my next issue is it wont start. Been pumping the lever on the fuel pump for what seems like forever and still not getting any fuel out of the bleed screw there above the filter. What am i doing wrong?

Give the starter a quick bump, maybe the cam lobe not lined up with the pump.

Any idea how many pumps before should start seeing fuel?

And what's going on when i get to one spot after hitting the starter quick, that the prime lever has litterally no pressure on it?

That's because it is then on the cam lobe.

Did you try cracking the injector lines and cranking it over to get the air out?
