Turbo Help!

Postby Promod631 » Sat Mar 21, 2015 6:25 pm

In a bit of a dilemma here. My 91 factory intercooled motor is completely stock except for m&h fuel pin and pump turned up. I want to get a little more power out of the old girl and the hc1 takes forever to make boost it seems like. Not sure if I should put a smaller exhaust housing or I have a brand new hx35. But wondering if it worth it to put bigger injectors on for the cost of the hc1 exhaust housing.

Where are you located? It shouldn't take to much $$ to get ahold of a gated' HX housing, that's what I put on my RC. Drill the hole out to just smaller than the WG puck and let drive pressure open it.

A junk HX would be fine for that, pretty tough to tear up an exhaust housing. You could probably get an 18cm 1stgen housing for dirt as well but if you're spending money I can't think of a reason not to get the 'gated 12cm.

I'm not editing all the above, but your HX will pretty much bolt into place of your h1c. Scoot your downpipe back to match the longer turbine housing and enjoy.

Would you think I'd have to put bigger injectors in it for the hx?

Nope, no need. The HX will spool faster even with stock injectors.

Normally I'd tell you to check your piping for leaks and stuff, but now that I've actually driven one of those 21cm turbos I know what they're like. Throw the HX on, it's nothing but a win-win.

will do! But if I wanted to in the future I cloud put 60hp injectors for example and the hx would handle that?

At that point, an HE351 or a 60mm upgrade is what I would do

You have a brand new hx35.........run it. Great turbo, and a perfect match for stock injectors.
