Diamond eye exhaust

Postby 93cummins89 » Mon Jun 08, 2015 5:44 am

For those of you who know about these things. I want to know if a 4" diamond eye is worth the money. But wich do I get muffler or non. It's already had a muffler delete and its loud but not bad and that's with stock exhaust.
Will no muffler on a 4" be to loud?

Too loud is quite relative... I have 3" to the t-case then it steps up to 5" dumped out right in front of the rear tires. No muffler. Its loud, but I think it sounds great. However i am sure it would be "too loud" for some.

It will get a little louder going from 3" to 4" but mostly you will get deeper tone.

All depends on what you like.

Others will chime in on performance difference I am sure, but my thoughts are, the less restrictions the better.

Idk.....the 3" pipe,no muffler, was louder on my truck. The 4" stuff is deeper sounding but is no where near as loud.

Diamond Eye is BY FAR the most common exhaust used on 1st gens. MBRP also makes a kit, but it is a little more money..... which is why everyone uses Diamond Eye..... we do actually get slightly better reviews on the MBRP kits.

A second turbine wheel is very effective at cutting down on noise levels. 8)

Get the kit with muffler even if you don't use it. Use it on something else or sell it. It was only $15 extra.

I'm only running the front half of the kit to get past the tcase, then I used some other 4" stuff I had kicking around to make it sweep out just ahead of the rear tire. Now I have the whole mid and tailpipe section to use in my Ramcharger. :D

The rear was tight on my RC (heh), the axle and fuel tank are tough to get around, especially with the muffler. I believe I had to buy one tight-radius, 4" 90* (or 45*) and cut it super-short to get from the muffler to above the axle in the room I had. I didn't run the tailpipe either, just stopped it right after it turns down behind the axle and turned it out a bit.

mine just slid right in not many problems at all..the biggest problem i had was trying to match the frame bend with the bent in the pipe..ALSO i highly recommend having a helper i did it by myself and it was a slight pain..also wear gloves that pipe ate my hands up like sandpaper

I ended up building a custom exhaust for my 90 dually because no one makes a dual outlet kit that I could find. I used a 4" Diamond Eye down pipe and expander to 5". I had a bunch of 5" pipe laying around and worked with what I had for the rest. I was very impressed with how well the downpipe was built and finished. If their full kits are anything like it, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one.
