Factory 12v downpipe... stainless?

Postby needlenose » Sun Jun 14, 2015 2:32 pm

I've tried the spark test with a piece of the down pipe and some mild steel. I'm pretty sure it's stainless. Anyone know for sure? It's very magnetic.

Its possible, especially with the heat. There are magnetic stainless steels. I know the down pipe on my turbo 6.2 was a type of stainless, even though it was rusty. Had to pie cut it to fit the swap, and had to use 304 filler rod cause regular steel tig rod cracked when it cooled
