Decking head

Postby Remps » Tue Jun 30, 2015 6:05 am

How much can one take off the head running a stock n/ic cam, without having to use a thicker gasket?

Ok, I am going to have the w250's original head magnafluxed and decked if I don't see any obvious cracks. Just as long as I can take up to .020 off without having to get valve seats sunk, or run a thicker gasket. Not worth it imo to spend that much money on a 9 mm head.

Magniflux won't be needed. Your head is cracked. Run it with the cracks. What is the reason you want to take any surface from the head?

A flat head will seal better, and it is most likely warped a little. The shop I use only charges 40 bucks to tank clean, magnaflux, vacuum test valves, and deck the head. I also want to know how badly it's cracked.
