What is the plastic cover on the drivers side of the engine.

So, I removed my VE pump to seal it up a few weeks back. What is that cheap looking plastic "cover" attached to the side of the engine block behind the pump?

That is insulation to help muffle the solid lifter noise just behind it.

Thanks for the quick reply. I wanted to remove it to inspect it, see what it was, but that would of been diving head first into a tight area!

I appreciate the information.
