Was the pump gear timed at factory marks when you checked the kdp?

Nope they were not deceiving you that 100 percent jb kwik. And I dont know my dumb ass didnt check :/ just didnt think to since the truck ran beautiful and didnt miss a beat when i first bought it

No worries the miss probably isnt timing related if it just up and started missing at random.

How much better is the miss now than when it started?

It still runs crappy compared to when I first bought the truck. It would miss very seldom for a few seconds when i first got it. Then the first winter I drove it, it started missing and puffing white smoke when it was stone cold but once it warmed up it was fine. Then eventually the miss never went away. I was sure it was injectors because the smoke smelled like fuel. I disassembled and cleaned all the injectors and found one injector tip with a hole clogged. Put it back together and it ran and idled smooth as silk for about a minute or less then return to the inconsistent idle and on and off miss but ran pretty damn good on the throttle. I bought these new 250 bar 5x012 marine injectors thinking it would fix it but nope.

It runs, starts, and idles a lot better since I advanced the timing though but still not right :( before I always had to give it throttle to start in the cold. I'd like to post some more vids of it running and driving but my YouTube app sucks and won't let me upload them

also since i advanced the timing theres no more REALLY bad missfiring accompanied by puffing out huge white smoke clouds on cold starts.

i can hit 1450 on the pyro before i even get to 5th gear holding it wide open. Is this normal? starwheel is almost bottomed out, stock fuel pin is in max position, smoke screw is backed out quite a ways, and the power screw might be 1 turn in from stock

High EGTS, popping/missing, and the fact that things improved when you advanced timing could indicate way retarted timing.

There's a bunch of variables, but 1450 in 4th seems high for just 1 turn on the screw. Even being a non IC truck.

What peak temps can you hit if you stay in it?

I dont know I was scared to stay in it any longer! I've read that 1350 is the max you want to hold it for any length of time

Still missing the same though?

Does it pull harder on the top?

Still missing about the same. Pulls harder up top, runs a little smoother and starts a LOT better, more diesel noise but seems to clatter louder on one cylinder than the others. I cant pinpoint

Hmmm......were you ever able to crack your injectors like Remps suggested?

Yes it made an equal difference on all cylinders. Also noticed since I've advanced the timing that im getting a ticking that sounds like an exhaust leak from the manifold side of the engine but all my gaskets are new and there are no leaks at the ports. The downpipe the turbo has always leaked and that seems to be where its coming from

Im pretty sure I have a bent or not fully seating exhaust valve. You can hear a hissing when you shut it down like compression escaping from somewhere ; (

just was told by a local machinist that its most likely a crack around my exhaust valve seat or a burned piston
