Fuel filter adapter

Postby 9312v » Thu Dec 24, 2015 12:11 pm

I know there is a adapter for getting rid of the fuel heater but I haven't been able to find any info on the thread pitches? I have been running the fs1221with out issue until today when the seal for the drain failed. If possible I would like to run a larger filter without a drain. I will be running larger lines with maybe a pusher pump and draw straw.

As for a pump I have been thinking either a fuelab or FASS. FASS has a pump with a preset pressure at 13psi the fuelab setup has a filter and pump in a nice package with a preset pressure at 8 psi.

You can run other filters with the heater, FS1251 has a manual drain included so you don't need the factory one. There are others also if you do some research. The shorter stud to do away with the heater has a part number of 3925954. It popped right up in a search.

I was wondering if there was an adapter stud that could be used with a more typical thread pitch, such as a filter off a p pump truck. If not I guess I'll keep using the fs1221 as I've had no problems with it, just looking to go bigger.

Here's a bigger option, swaps right in place of the stocker, which is the left filter.
Stole this pic from dieseltruckresource.com, there's even a couple of threads jn the sticky about lp get fuel filters

I once found a nipple that screwed onto the fuel filter stud, threaded inside and out, in a big truck parts supply store ( hydraulic section iirc) finally found a bigger filter to fit the bigger nipple with the same diameter gasket. It was a touch too long to get the threads started as the filter was binding against the lower wider part of the engine block. Gotta be a bigger filter that fits without binding, I never did complete the search.

You could also source a dual filter head from an industrial 6bt. I believe it threads right in and flows in series of course.
