8 hours with 4.10s

Postby spencerdiesel » Sun Mar 06, 2016 3:41 pm

Took a trip to Ohio and decided to take the dodge. Wish I could've calc'd mileage but the odo doesn't work and we got turned around anyways.

Anyhow, around 3-4 hours of the whole trip was done @ (stock) governed speed. She was a little noisy and drank the #2, but survived fine.

Straight pipe didn't bother me, but ext cab long bed probably has something to do with that. Wish I could have visited any nearby 1st genners but time was tight

I had 4:10's in my diffs for abut 6 months....then switched to 3.54's. If I remember correctly I think it was about 1950rpm had me sitting at 62-65 mph.

It ain't that bad......hauling a load, pulling a trailer,it wouldn't be my first choice to drive if I wasn't pulling or hauling something. I've made several 5/600 mile trips going after farm equipment and what not in Louisiana,Alabama,Mississippi, and some in Texas with my junk and never had an problem with it. My mind is busy looking for dumb asses running around me much less the noise or time.
I'm happy to arrive alive lol

I agree I just wish I could justify my 4.10s

I had 4.10's for bout 2 months. Never again. Felt like it took forever to get anywhere. Got up and went, but not good for long hauls.

I have hauled some heavy loads through the mountains of BC....the 3.54's have never given me any trouble. Only way I'd go back to 4.10's is with a Gear vendors OD unit off the back of my T-case. ;)

Just put 4:10's in the 92. Its a tow pig so it fits. My 93 has them too. Not to bad with bigger diameter tires. The 4:10's are about the same in 5th as my 89 with the 3 speed auto is in drive with the 3:08's

Are you still running stock gov springs Richie?

What lift pump is in the 89?

Stock gov springs in all 3, 89 and 92 have stock lift, 93 has the piston upgrade,,,,, Pete took care of me on that one. :D
