IP slide pin leak?

Postby theoldmanW350 » Thu Jun 16, 2016 7:06 pm

Hello all been awhile since i've been on the boards. Today I re-installed my original fuel pin and did the 90* CW turn but what did I find? diesel inside the pump. The fuel pin I removed was the M2 from M&H which isn't too of an aggressive pin. Slide pin o-ring leak is my first thought. That's a disassemble job correct? Thoughts?

I'd dry the bore out and run the factory pin,to see if it does it again.

If your patient, you can install that oring with the pump in place. You'll need to remove the throttle lever assembly and have a small pair of needle nose pliers. You remove the pin and then you'll see the oring. It'll be sandwiched between a (I don't really know what to call it) cap and the housing. That "cap" has a place for an Allen wrench, couple of turns and its out and the oring is easily removed.

Turning it 90* is kind of deceptive. That's what people say to do, but what you actually want is the deepest side of the cone towards the front, and it may not be 90*.
IIRC you need to remove the fulcrum lever shaft to get to the fuel pin. I'd pull the pump top and then remove the shaft, then the "cap" as Ellis called it. I can't remember what the correct name for it is.

Schit! I forgot about that! I'll be danged if I didn't soil the tread with misinformation.

One I tore down....maybe it'll help.

That's ok bud, we're used to you soiling something.
There's not many good pics of that part of the pump top in that thread, I just went and scanned the whole page.
