VE44 pump longevity

Postby needlenose » Thu Oct 27, 2016 9:37 am

What's the typical life span of a pump under normal operating conditions. No mods.

I've never run any fuel additives in it. Neither did the PO. It has 245k on it. Just trying to plan ahead.

Best to run an additive since the ULSD has very little lubricity in it now days. With proper fuel system maintenance I can't see any reason for the pumps to fail before a million miles. ;)

One of my local 1st gen friends is coming up on 400k on his original IP, and its seen 200k + miles of used motor oil (filtered).

Cheap insurance is adding 2 stroke oil at about an oz per gallon.
