H. Balancer position I did something stupid Please Help

Postby Collers9640 » Tue Jan 17, 2017 6:02 pm

I took off my balancer and timing cover and fan to paint them. Well upon installing I realize that my dumbass didn't mark the balancer position very well and now it's gone. I also did a valve lash adjustment so I do know where tdc is.
My question is this, is there a mark or something on the balancer showing where tdc is or a mark that shows how it goes back on the crank?

Far as I know....it doesn't matter. You find tdc with the timing pin in the back of the timing case under the injection pump. You can mark the balancer from there wherever you want to indicate the same thing.

Yes but what im saying is I painting over the mark I had made on the balancer and don't know the position it was at before I took it off

It doesn't matter how they go back on from what I've been told by the local Cummins dealer

Ellis and Andy are correct. Damper position is not important. Find TDC again and mark it any way you want.
