mechanical tachometer

Postby mopargoob » Mon May 27, 2019 7:32 pm

My brother has since sold the truck, but he used to have a 93 dually Gen1. He found a mechanical tach gauge from an old 60s perkins equipped Dodge truck, went to an IH dealer and bought a valve cover with the oil fill cap on it, and a mechanical tach drive kit and cable for a 4bt engine. the drive went into the cover where the filler pipe used to go, and connected through a link to the injector pump timing gear. he routed the cable into the truck, and instead of butchering the original cluster, he went to a wrecking yard and got another one that he modified to fit the tach in. it came out pretty neat.

Got pictures?

So the mechanical tach mounted to the injection pump gear somehow?
