My turbo upgrade

Postby mhuppertz » Sun Jan 31, 2021 7:15 pm

A few months ago my turbo suck in my BHAF and trashed the compressor wheel. It was a 60mm H1C hybrid with a 16cm non-wastgated turbine.
I sent it to Gillett in Utah (great guys) and they upgraded it to the max, a 62mm / 86mm.
The problem is, now the 16CM doesn't create enough drive pressure at lower RPM's now. Crazy, I never expected that. Now it will rev like crazy and is still pulling like a Viper at 90 when I shift into 5th!!!
So now I am saving for a floating 14CM. They are stupid expensive compared to the 16CM!
Anyway, thought I would get y'all caught up.

I'm guessing this is what a lot of companies are building now as stock appearing turbos. Sounds like a nice upgrade.
