WH1E exhaust flange question?

Postby krazykarl454 » Thu Feb 28, 2008 8:12 pm

ok guys i got my WH1E back to my house today. and.... noticed the exhaust flange that bolts up to the manifold is alot larger then the standard 5.9 turbo. so what do i have to do to mount this thing up. do i need to fab up an adapter plate? or do they make one? or does some one make a new turbine houseing for the WH1E (hx40) that has our style flange on it?

thanks-karl

your going have to make one, i dont think anybody makes them, its not to hard, and hx40 would fit the stock manifold

CK, not all HX40's were mated to an exhaust housing that had a T3. Yours may have been but he has a T4. I think HTT has adapters. I would call them or build your own. And besides, I would say that most HX40s made were for the 6CT or 8.3 Cummins which has a T4 manifold.

Aluminum? Doesn't that melt at, like, 1300*? :hs:
I hit 1400* regularly on my truck. ;-)

lol yeah i would not do an aluminum one. get on comp diesle and search the forums there are several people that offfer the t-3 to t-4 adapthers for like 50 -75 bucks with bolts. make sure that you dont have a lrge ex housing with the t-4 flange most of the good 16-18cm housings were t-3

I would not use that lagster. It's probly a massive 19cm housing, not to mention the bigger foot. Sell it, get something more desireable, such as a s300. Plus a 19cm t4 is not equivalent to a 19cm t3 housing in a/r. It's much bigger, will be much laggier.

ok guys made me up an adapter today. only took me about 5 hours. alot better then dumping 150 bucks. well here sum pics of it. let me know what u think. i plan on tapping it for pyro, and adding a few ribs to it for extra support. i do jump the truck, so i dont need that thing ripping off

ya i knew the aluminum would be a bad idea, was just talkin out my ass. but ya it is a 19cm. BGILBERT: but what i don't under stand is if the area of the turbine is 19cm2 or has a diameter of ruffly 6cm's on my t4 style turbine. and a t3 measures up the same size, y would the t4 have more lag? the only thing that should be bigger is the flange and the exhause out put, so i think, so please explain. also can i get a a smaller hot side for a reasonable price. cause this is a brand new WH1E that i got for super cheap.
thanks guys
