piston pump problems

Postby hassy21 » Sat Mar 15, 2008 7:05 pm

I tried puting the pump on that I got from a cummins dealer and ran into a problem. The pump is angled toward the block and so is the tube that goes to the filter and there is a square block casted on the side of the block directly over the fuel pump which I think is for the blow by tube. But the top of the pump is hitting the block rite there and was wondering what I do about that?

What you are hitting is sound deadening insulation, take a 4" angle grinder and grind radius in there for the pump and line to go into. When you see sparks that is far enough. Did you get the spacer that goes between the black and the pump? If not it will not fit with the stock hard line.

A sharp exacto knife/blade will cut the sound deadening material off as well.

Did you get the new line too? The stock line won't work either.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

ok thank you for clarifying that. I got the hard line that goes to the fuel filter and i have to cut for that to go in also. i also got the spacer that goes in the back of it.
