Re-calibrate Oil Pressure Gauge

Postby gharger » Thu Apr 03, 2008 3:41 pm

Hey all, I got tired of seeing a low stock gauge, oil pressure gauge reading. This was after replacing the sender making the reading worse. I verfied correct pressure with a test gauge and found 30 to 42# pressure. I not only got a low pressure gauge reading but would sometimes get a red light... The fix, ground the gauge plug terminal, which will cause the needle to peg on H for a second or two. I did this 3 times and caused low idle reading to raise 2 marks on the gauge. If you ground the wrong plug terminal the red light will turn on. Only peg the needle for a second then turn off the ignition and wait for the needle to return to L rest or as low as it will go. Re-plug the sender and see the gauge pressure results. Repeat as needed.
Oh, make sure the plug terminals are clean before doing this procedure as cleaning the terminals could fix the low reading.
