New Fastcore Hi-Flow Intake Manifold for Cummins Engine

Postby Greenleaf » Sat Jan 20, 2007 8:59 am

Fastcore CFM+ Intake Manifold. It looks a good bit like the Banks and ATS arch manifold/big head units that have become popular with the 2nd/3rd Generation trucks. However, the bolt pattern is the same for 12 and 24 valve engines so the high performance/aftermarket units fit all generation turcks that share the same bolt pattern.

The CFM+ flows 40 % more air than stock and, reported to flow much more air than any other aftermarket intake now on the market. Not only that but it delivers COOLER air to the engine due to it's material of construction.

The manifold is made from high-temperature composite that transfers heat 900 times LESS than all other performance manifolds made from cast aluminum.

I think they should put up or shut up. I test unit could be delivered and would be a worthy marketing gimick IMHO. I guess I could step up and take one for the 1st Gen Crowd... :)

I think they have as these advertisements are popping up all over the diesel truck websites. Image

FYI-
I had a Banks big Head I tried to intall on my 93 2x4. There was not enough clearance to the hood to put it on. (This was after I spent about 6 hours sanding and buffing the silly thing!) Needed about 3/4" more. I sold this to guy that has a 4x4 with a 2" body lift and it went on with no problems. Just wanted to let you guys know the clearance is tight so make sure it will fit. If this composite one is the one I have seen advertized in the Diesel Truck magazine, they say it is "taller" than the Banks or ATS inlets which will make it even worse for our trucks.

This is the same issue I'm fighting with my truck. I made a custom intake for the non air cooled 90 and want as long a radius into the intake as possible. I have been fighting the fact the hood actually needs to close

I ended up using a factory inlet off a second gen truck. The inlet is a lot bigger than the stock first gen inlet. I think the inlet is from a 24 valve truck but I'm not sure. It's 3" instead of 2.5" and goes along with the Ford intercooler I swapped in. It also has 3" inlet and outlets.

I saw the intake heater assembly as being a restriction with all the intake horns available no matter who's. I ended up custom installing a Banks TwinRam intake to get around that (essentially twin intake horns fed vis a single 3" feed pipe). The 'ol Cummins breathes WAY better. :D
