california emission questions

Postby captcavy » Tue Jul 15, 2008 2:42 pm

I have a 91.5 dodge w350 srw, I have it moderatly bombed, im thinking about installing a set of lucas pod injectors, I know this things really smoke,
does anyone know if these trucks are exempt from emissions because it is
a commercial vehicle, or am I going to have a problem with new emission
laws, I heard the cops are pulling over trucks that leave black clouds where ever they go, so should I install the pod's are get a set of ddp stage III 40hp
injectors, I dont want to have to deal with emission problems, and fines or
tickets, my cousin has a bombed 2002 cummins, 450hp, it smokes like a freight train, also its straight piped and loud, is there any laws on noise pollution,
its a matter of time before he gets pulled over and gets a pink certificate.
any info would be greatly apprecaited, thanks all, shelby aka captcavy

I got out of a couple smoke tickets by carrying around the specific California statute involving smoking vehicles...

In California, you are only breaking the law if you are smoking for longer than 10 seconds. Which is kind of hard to do, really. And, it's only a fix-it ticket anyways.

However, that's not saying that if you're being a total irresponsible moron you won't get curb stomped and arrested for something more severe than "excessive emissions".

CA DOT will be starting to crack down more on smoking diesels as far as being modified...I think it'd probably be a good idea for you to spend a little more money on some cleaner injectors but at this point it's just a matter of paying attention and not smoking out the highway behind you and you'll be fine.
