Hey that's my truck and filter. The new amsoil filters seem pretty good. It's a reuseable filter to clean it you just blow it out with compressed air. no oiling or throwing away $45 BHAF's. This one has a 4.5in opening and I fit it to the stock air tube with a piece of 4in abs pipe about 3in long. I made a little bracket to keep it off the fender. You can get more info off of amsoils website. They make a few different sizes. I'll see how it holds out.Image

AMSOIL says to blow their filters out with compressed air? That's been a no-no for me for every filter I've ever had or heard of...

If you take the filter off, is there any gritty reside on the intake line going into the turbo?

I just put it on a couple of days ago. I made sure the inside of the tube was real clean because I'm going out of town this weekend 700mile trip and I'll take it off when I get back and see what things look like.

I have been thinking about switching to one of these as well. Seems like I read somewhere that there is maximum PSI that you are regulated to to keep from damaging the filter.

You can clean the AmsOil Ea but blowing it with a shop vac but I wouldnt recommend it. Even other dealers and the CEO of the company said you can blow it out but doesn't fully recommend it as the proper way of doing it.

Here are the cleaning directions from Amsoils web site.

Cleaning
Ea filters should be cleaned every year or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. Carefully remove the filter from the housing. Clean the housing with a shop towel, being careful not to knock contaminants into the air inlet. Filters can be cleaned by carefully vacuuming the filter media on the dirty side, or by holding the filter with one hand and carefully blowing the filter media at a 45 degree angle on the clean side using low-pressure shop air (15-20 lbs. psi).

Service Life
AMSOIL Ea Air Filters are guaranteed for four years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. The guarantee applies only if the filter has been serviced according to AMSOIL recommendations. In off-road, frequently dusty or other severe duty applications, clean and change more often as determined by operating conditions or as indicated by restriction gauge.
