truck running away

Postby redneckroot » Wed May 20, 2009 4:44 am

A truck that my buddy is working on just started running away. 1,200 miles ago this is what he did: PDR fuel pin, 3200 gov. spring, PODs, fire rings. The owner has driven it for roughly 1200 miles and all of a sudden it started running away. Does anyone know what would cause this?
1990 Restored with a bit of aftermarket goodies might be for sale?

Any mods to teh fuel screw? That is what usually causes run away. Maybe he has an oil leak in the turbo and its getting into the air intake.

He said he never touched the fuel screw, would a leak in the turbo cause it to run away at start up?

check the big hold down nut on top of the throttle linkage, mine came loose and wasnt pulling the throttle shaft back, so when i got on it it pushed the shaft up to high rpm and didnt come back down. I thought it was runaway til i noticed it.

Could, the engine will run on the oil in the intake from a leaking tuebo just like it will run on diesel
