6 port injecters

Postby Redneckintraining » Thu May 21, 2009 11:41 pm

Are there any 6 orafice injectors that flow more or less than stock that will go into a non intercooled first gen with little to no mods?I am trying to burn used engine oil in my truck but it seems that the injectors with only 4 orafices dont like the oil.The ones with 6 orafices seem to do much better. so yea...Otherwise I may end up selling the truck and buying a v6 manual dakota.. :( diesels just getting to expensive..

If you think diesel is too expensive now you must not have owned one last summer. The Intercooled nozzles from a 91-93 are 6 hole and will work fine in your Non-IC motor.

With the proper 9mm to 7mm adaptors.

I thought the intercooled injectors flows a little less.I also heard that in addition to the 9-7 mm adapter they had different threads for the fuel lines? Not sure its just what the injector shop told me..

but if they hook up to the lines just needing that adapter they may be the way to go.

EDIT: I did own my truck last year.I just had a car that got decent MPG until I accidentially rolled it..

Expect to lose 20-30hp when you go to 6hole stock IC'd injectors.

You still getting crappy mileage? I mean, like less than 16-17 in town? (and even that isnt just great, but it seems average). You ever get your 4 holers checked out on a test stand? Where is your pump timing? Lot of little things that need to be addressed before you start throwing parts that it may or may not need.

The injectors will interchange with the 9-7mm adaptors. Injector lines will bolt right up to either 1stGen body.

To be honest none of these style injectors like used engine oil, or even new oil for that matter, the viscosity is too high and it doesn't burn clean so it produces a lot of carbon. There is an idiot in town who burns tons of waste oil and a little veggie mixed in. His truck runs like crap and smokes out the whole highway all the time like a rolling house fire. He has been through 2 injection pumps and about 3 sets of injectors in about 3 years and I would guess he has driven maybe 30000miles in that time. I guess he is about break even in replacment parts vs free fuel soo far.

Is it possible to tweak with the pump to get more injection pressure?I am thinking more pressure might allow the oil to atomize better and combust better.Orther wise I am in the market for a 5.2L 5 speed 4x4 dakota...

build yourself a pop tester , and watch for yourself at what pressures you will need to atomize " oil " .

i did some testing with vegetable oil awhile back with vw injector bodies with merc nozzles .

off the top of my head i needed to be around 2700-2800 psi ( i have it written down somewhere ) , and no more than 30% veg oil mixed with #2 diesel and still keep what apeared to be " normal " spray patterns compared to #2 diesel at stock vw pop pressures ( around 2200- 2300 psi ).

straight veg oil , even at 3200 psi just produced a solid stream of oil , no mist at all

ABout 260 bar. I dont have a calculator, and cant do 3 digit multiplying in my head. Conversion factor is 14.7psi/ bar.

google to the rescue!

260 bar = 3 770.98118 pounds per square inch

I wonder why the oil doesnt flow properly then at such high pressures.Used engine oil after its been though a centrifuge and cleaned flows alot easier than vegitable oil...Some veggy oil is solid at room temp.....
