VE pump problem

Postby tripler54 » Fri Jun 05, 2009 10:20 am

I got a truck that had a leak in the pump between the main pump body and the upper housing (with the throttle shaft in it) . so i replaced the seal/gasket and noticed there was a small crack on the inboard side just below the step down from the idle screw so i pulled it back off and changed everything out to a housing i had and installed it, worked great for bout a week not a single drip until last night i noticed a leak and sure enough the new housing was cracked in the same place. Im kinda baffled since it went on nice and was working great. the only thing i can think of is that the housing might have a little warp in it causing the crack.

never seen anything like this before and was wondering if anyone had any input or has seen somthing similar.

Ouch.

I'd have to think that it'd be a warped pump too...

Either that or you're godzilla with the allen wrench putting it on.

Maybe the AFC hose has turned into a super-spring somehow and is torquing it over.

Maybe you're putting so much boost into the diaphragm chamber it can't take it anymore!
