i had a autometer tach in my crew, and it was ok. fairly accurate, but that depends on you. you have to calibrate it to the truck with a dyno or hand held tach, by adjusting a screw on the back. i did it by ear, and had pete check it at sop. it was about 50 rpm shy of being right.

i have the autometer tach on mine. i like it but wy alternator is messed up so it twitches real bad at an idle. same with the alternator gauge. it smoothes out around 1200 rpm. but the tach itself is really good.

There's no mod's to my motor yet but that will be my next investment. I might buy them from Geno's. What a father's day gift ! :D

Both of mine I got directly from Isspro. Geno's does not have the 4,000 rpm unit. The only one they list is the 3k one. They ( geno's ) asked me to go direct instead of them doing a special order and then ship it to me. The price was about the same anyway.

I have an ISSPRO 4k 2-1/16" tach I found on eBay over three years ago for $25. I had to cob up a fitting for the lightbulb and install a crank sensor (which ISSPRO sells). But it's been great for three years and counting now....

Scroll down to page 13 in this link. I have the R8503 with the R8912 sensor on my 89. I have the EV series R5503 and I bought the R8912-92 wire package for the factory plug on my 93. I ended up making my own harness so all I used from the wire kit was the directions. The EV series gauges are twords the bottom of the pdf file. Do you have the factory pcm as well as the crank sensor. If you do then you could hook it up. I would suspect it might be easyier to wire it like my 89 with no pcm.
