this is funny bout my afc

Postby randyswelding » Sun Jun 14, 2009 5:02 pm

hi guys you probebly remember i was havin trouble with my afc leakin at the pin, well i figured out that its just suposed to be the oring and no compression fittin and it didnt leak.so i desided to ground the cone more and it started to dribble out, but saturday when i was goin to the dyno i got into texas and smelt fuel and say i went threw a1/4tank in 5 miles so i got over and looked and i was poooorrin fuel out the vent tube,so i pulled out the 4 screws and took out the cone and started the truck with the fuel pin all the way in it didnt leak so i sealed the top and found a couple of bolts to plug the heads boost refrance and the port on the pump but it still dribbles. what am i missin oh ya at the dyno with the 6x16s and a blown coolerboot (thats a funny story lets just say a fork lift and sand then fork lift on trailer and sand well it was smoky and kind of hoppy) i did 337 hp and 805tq, but i got that fixed and it pulls harder than it did before. any help with fixxin the afc from poorin fuel out is thanked sorry for the long story thanks for the help again

Don't use the fuel limiter. They don't work right i.e. LEAK FUEL if you play around with the profile.

I have read posts on the same subject for years now. Poeple have tried everything from New O rings to mixing Coppertone sun tan oil w/the fuel.

It is going to leak.

Replace the O ring. Then use the fuel pin as a plug. (the one the O ring seals)

Turn the cone profile where you like it and set the deapth with the "smoke screw" I think I used a longer screw to push the profile pin to the bottom. The OEM screw is too short to use a lock not on.

I set my profile to the leanest setting as my fuel limiter is not connected. The profile pin will not slide up/down and the fuel pin will not slide in/out of the limiter bore.

If you need to lean this setting for a state yearly inspection, then pull the cone profile and set to the leanest position if the linkage inside said pump remains intact.

Yes or no. That may stop the leak. However, did you open up the pump and replace the O ring? Have you modified the internal arm in any way?

With the fuel pin pushed in all the way and help there by the cone profile, it will set your pump into a lean fuel state. Is that what you'd like?

You likley will have to modify the lever i.e. cut the foot back or remove it to gain the top end you'd like. Or, det the cone profile where you want it and tie it down to that point with the smoke screw. Then remove the boost signal line from the cyl head to the fuel limiter. Wouldn't have to be done, but that signal line would not serve any purpose. The fuel cone will be in a fixed position.

Clear?

That's clear,I get it now! No I haven't changed the oring since it started leakin yet I got to wait till this weekend till my helper(dad) gets home from tdy. Yes the foot is completly ground off and the pin is a longer one as well. I think ill set it to the deepest part of the pin cause it don't smoke too bad in the lower rpm. But what I don't understand is why I had fuel pooorin out that has me stumped.thanks for the help greenleak I do appresheat it
