Leak from above fuel filter

Postby Diezeldriver » Sun Jun 21, 2009 9:26 am

I noticed this awhile back, but have been lazy and haven't been too concerned. I figured its time I should try to solve it.

Somewhere above the fuel filter is a fuel leak and I have not been able to identify the cause. Has anyone had a similar problem and fixed it? Or does anyone have any ideas for a solution?

Above the filter is the fuel heater. There is an o-ring between the heater and the adapter. Sometimes when you change the filter, the stub unscrews completely or comes loose enough to cause it to leak. The fuel heater sometimes cracks and leaks also. Some people remove them all together, they come in handy in cold climates.

They are getting tough to find. It took me some doing, but in time I scored several. I don't use these as my filter assy is different on my trucks. If you do have to locate one here be the nos.

Heater O-Ring

Postby Featherman » Sat Oct 17, 2009 2:49 pm

How difficult is it to change the O-ring. I noticed a leak up around the fuel filter and am assuming its not from the fuel filter because its tight.

I am changing the filter again and figure I might as well chnage the heater o-ring while I'm in there.

Thanks,
Featherman

its very easy. you take the filter off and then take off the stud that the filter screws onto and the fuel heater drops off and you take the oring off and put the new one on and do the reverse.
