91 wait to start light doesn't work

Postby 95ram » Thu Jul 09, 2009 2:34 pm

Okay, here's the deal. The wait to start light doesn't light up when I first turn the key on. Once I start the pickup it comes on for a second like it should. Is my heater grid not working? Is there something else I should be looking for?

Is it 15*f or less where your at? No, then don't worry about it, most of the 89 models have a grid heater control module that is set to come on when temps are 15* or less.

No it's not 15*, but my 93, 97, both 01's, 03, and 06 Wait to start lights all came on when you first turned the key to the run postion and this one should to. IMO it is somethig to worry about because something obviously isn't working.

By then way. I'm an ID 10 T. It's a 91 non-IC.

It appears as if though you are correct after a little more research. The light will not come on until it reachs 59*F or 15*C.

When am I not correct? For early 89's, which I'm sure you posted it was an 89 to begin with, the grid won't preheat til 15*F. Beyond that, they are all 59*F.

Grid heater control module. Two different p/n's available with two different heat ranges. Bill is right on the money as usual...
