Another blown head gasket (4 since Oct)

Postby gear jammer 91" » Sat Aug 08, 2009 4:19 pm

I just blew my fourth head gasket since October  . I know, I need o-rings and studs but that's another topic. Anyway, I said screw the cummins gasket this time and ordered one through my local parts store. They got me a victor reinz. When I got my hands on it I couldn't believe what I saw, It looks exactly like a cummins gasket in every way, and I got it for $50 less than my last cummins gasket. I'd run it at my current power level and let every one know if it last's the same 4 to 5 months that the cummins gasket's last me, but my truck is going down the road soon. There's just not enough room for two adults, a car seat, and a diaper bag in a regular cab truck. Anyway just thought I'd share this, maybe this info can save you $50 some time down the road too.8)

What parts store did you get it at? A chain store?

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I got it at carquest. I did get it at cost, but I think I got my last cummins gasket for cheap too. $80 for the last cummins, and $30 for the victor reinz.

That victor reinz gasket held 30 pounds of boost for a couple months before I sold the truck with no issue's. As far as I know it's still holding strong.
