REAR MAIN SEAL

Postby redwood logger » Mon Sep 14, 2009 12:36 pm

Can someone give me a quick run down of what parts I have to remove to replace the rear main seal on my 93' 12 valve? This info would be much appreciated.

TRansmission, flex plate or flywheel. Buy the seal from cummins and it will come with an installation tool and instructions.

Yup, no need to remove the pan or the adapter plate. If the truck is in a rust belt area or even if it isn't, it's a good idea to pull the adapter plate and check the rear cam plug. It's only a few more minutes, and sometimes the plug will be leaking or rusting out.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
