Postby Begle1 » Sun Apr 08, 2007 7:03 pm

That chamber should be dry if not at least clean. Perhaps the O-ring at the actuator pin is bad but thet still doesnt explain the red greasy content. Pull the pump top off and see whats in there.

Well, that's not good then.

I had a bad O-ring on the main fuel screw... What's the "actuator pin"?

I hate to say this but it looks like rust. Maybe some moisture got in there?
Does it wipe off easily?

It's not rust on the pump surfaces itself. It all came off, but it was stuck on their pretty good; kind of like hard water deposits on a faucet. Didn't score the metal.

Maybe I just caught it at the wrong time of the month?

The spooge is normal, I see that a lot. The liquid fuel is a bad sign. Time to pull the pump top and replace the seal around the pin.

What's the spooge from? Any idea?
Just because it's normal, does it make it acceptable? How long until it comes back?

I have a seal kit on the way; for all I know the seals could very well be original, and running with ULSD for the past few thousand miles (if you think that'd make a difference).

Is the fuel leak damaging anything?

The spooge appears to be broken-down grease, moisture, and rust.

It'll come back in a few years if you clean it all out.

The fuel leak isn't damaging anything. As long as it's not leaking enough to bother you, there's no reason you can't drive the truck.
