i will bet that your idle is set too low. try turning it up, see what happens.

Pump stock?

What RPM does it smooth out? Or does it only smooth out when there's a load on it?

At 800 it should be smooth as glass. I had one truck that was real low and it would turn the screws out of the trim at a stoplight. :D

ya, rpms seem stock.. this truck is 1 owner never touched. even the original paperwork is in the glove box. i jsut checked the idle. it idles at 700-750 almost 800. if you bump the gass it smoothes out.. odd. my other trucks idle lower.

Hmm...

The timing may be advanced due to low pop pressures? Take the injectors out and have them clean/ pop tested/ reshimmed?

Usually an injection pump or injector problem that results in a rough idle will cause an RPM drop; fixing the problem will give some RPM back.

How much RPM do you have to give it before it smooths out?

How fresh is your fuel?

Bad/ dirty Injectors, or lack of fuel because of lift pump or filter.

My 91 started doing that after I replaced the transmission mounts. At idle it rains screws in the cab.

My 91 also has and always did have a good shake on shut down. My 92 has a good belt squawk on shut down.
