it really is different with every pump but with two turns you will most likely feel a difference. Just try it and if you don't like it then make sure you remember how many turns so you can turn it back. Although you probably won't want to

some pumps it will make very little difference, others will try to runaway. just be prepared with a board to shut it down, just in case. 2 turns on mine made for a completly different truck.

Carolina Cummins lives right close to me i think im going to let him do it, he said you would feel the difference, but not as much because it has an intercooler

On mine I only got 3 turns on it (with the collar off) before runaway. It is a whole other truck though

Mine only went in about 2 turns then I couldn't turn it no more. Does it get hard the more it goes in??

When it gets to where there is a lot of resistance that is the end of your adjustment. Some guys have taken it out and welded more on the end then milled it down for further adjustment.

So what is the maximum number of turns people get? 6?

hmm, not sure how many turns.

When i removed my power screw there were about three threads a smooth shaft and then a hex portion of the screw showing past the weldedd collar, and all of the pix I have ever seen of a stock screw/collar show just the hex end of the screw, not the shaft and threads.

I wanna say I had about 8-9 turns, and have yet to get to runaway.

Fact is I ran out of low idle adjustment first, tryin to turnin the idle down.

Currently I am sittin at 758 hot idle

Shouldn't I get more turns tho?? And how will welding and grinding help? I am trying to learn here as one of these days, I want to mod these (swap parts). I guess I really want to know how it works and improve on it.

When you weld the end, you are making it longer, thus it pushes farther. It would be like having more threads.
There is a shoulder on the screw, this bottoms in the hole. The first part of the hole isn't threaded, this is where the shoulder (holds the o-ring seal) rides.

pump difference

Postby charger 69 » Fri May 04, 2007 8:24 pm

As you said it must be different between pumps,I turned mine 3.5 turns and no sign of it wanting to run away.

We had an unofficial poll on DTR awhile back and it seems that the non-i/c pumps tend to run away more than the intercooled ones. Not sure why...
