I don't have it as lucky as some of you do. My hands are huge by any standard. I ended up taking the throttle bracketry completely out of the way and then took a 7/16th hex nut and tack welded it to the smooth portion where the slotted end is. Couldn't get my hands in there any other way.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm 5' 10" and weigh 180, but my hands are smaller than my mom's, who's 5' 5". I couldn't grip something to save my life, and I've had little old ladies tell me that I need a firmer hand shake. I am able to turn the bolt with my finger tips though, so it's not all bad.

Anyways, what I want to know is why Bosch didn't put a hex head on the full power and idle screws. The thing would be a walk in the park if you could turn it with an Allen wrench.

The 114 (nonIC) pumps had just a slot for the screwdriver; the 184 and 205 (IC'd) pumps had the 6mm hex added. I would like to see the idle screw easier to access. I Greenleafed my idle jambnut, then had to trim it when I got the pump redone (needed more adjustment on the idle, but just a hair). It is easier to get the screwdriver tip down the front of the AFC housing than the rear.

Begle1....... I just cant say anything that would top what Pete said. You coming to SOP4?

Weird.....I have the original pump on my 91.5 and it has a smooth end with the slot for the screwdriver.

Trust me guys....took all of 30 sec to tack on the nut and I can adjust it without having to move anything now. If you want to go a little different...just take the 6mm socket (I have close to 15 of them) and weld that on....

Yeah howdy, I think I'll just forfeit this contest of wits.

Last time I managed to adjust my idle bolt with an open 1/4-inch wrench. It just happened to fit tight enough on the round part that it could spin it.

How does one "Greenleaf" the idle bolt?

And what is SOP4?

To "Greenleaf" the idle screw, you remove it and put it in from the front. It was a big secret until recently!
SOP, aka Smoke Over Peru, is a get together in Indiana, there is a thread on here about it. 8)

When's Smoke Over Peru?

Since the bastards rescheduled both Thunder in IRP AND Norwalk's Night Under Fire, I'm pretty SOL for my vacation these next two weeks. I'm flying into Indiana this Sunday.

Well, I'm flying in to Fort Wayne, but I'm staying in Defiance, Ohio.

I'm only going to be there until the second week of July; October's still a way's off yet.
