high mileage 12v upgrades?

Postby imfixinmopars » Thu May 10, 2007 5:15 am

i have a 92 12v,w/ 525000 miles, and been well taken care off.i would like to turn up the pump, and what ever else will help.i put a straight 3" exhaust on it also.is it safe to put more fuel/boost to this ol'girl?? it only had 12psi boost, and i screwed in the full power 2 turns and got 20-22 psi,and runs much better, but should i go farther?,meaning star/full load adj. i dont have a pyro yet,but i want your opinion on the mileage vs. boost, thanks and yes im a newbee.

I'd grind away at the fuel pin, that makes a huge difference on the off the line response of these trucks. Diffinately get a pyro.

im looking for a pyro this weekend,at the local swap.im sure the pump is stock.i just hauled my 863 bobcat w/ my dozer trailer today, and the truck did ok,just need a little more power,as always.the load was about 13k lbs,and it did ok,but the truck rode harsh.i have airbags for it too,i will try.soon as i get a pyro,i will go internal on the pump.if you guys think its safe w/ the miles?????thanks

I wouldn't worry about the miles, based on what I've read on the internet. Pumps seem to fail anywhere from 300,000 to 1,200,000 miles, tweaked or not.
