VE PUMP ISSUE

Postby Collers9640 » Sat Mar 20, 2010 7:59 pm

hello all, I need some help. My VE pump has started a small steady dripping leak while the engine is running. Is there any common spots the VE leaks such as a loose bolt or a gasket the can be replaced. Or am I looking at having to buy a new VE. Any help?

Where is the leak coming from? Is it coming out of the vent tube? Or from the front of the pump?

Sounds like a control valve leak, or a leak fuel pin. Probably the control valve.

The most common spot is where the throttle shaft comes out. The rest are the vent on the AFC housing, the hi pressure head o-ring, and the cover on the inside of the pump towards the engine. This is the approximate order of occurances that I have read about. The 1st 2 you have to take the top off the pump to fix, the other 2 you have to pull the pump.
It may be leaking someplace else too. Clean it with brake cleaner and dry it off, then run it and watch closely. Let us know what you find.

Take it off and reseal the entire pump. Every O ring is going to be the same age. If you take time to fix one, another one will leak soon. Fix it right and be done.

I've decided to just pull the pump and have it resealed. Thanks for the help guys
