ve runaway question

Postby smoke' em » Mon Mar 29, 2010 7:05 pm

on my 93 i took the pump off the truck and replaced the o ring on the governer screw and also the gasket on the top head of the pump, so i had to disconect my 3200 gov spring and do all of that stuff and now i have a bad runaway problem

i have taken the top of the pump off twice checked the top hat spring etc., pulled the pump out and checked the key way on the timing gear, checked the indexing of the throttle shaft and played with the full power screw and cant get it,

it doesnt want to idle below 1500 and when i give it gas it hesitates a little then jumps up on the rpms and hangs there then it drops way down and wants to stall,

is there any springs that could have come out by removing the governer screw, ive looked at all the diagrams on the pump and i put the governor wieghts back in with the washer like on the diagram and still cant figure it out

any suggestions

Did you get the fuel screw back in the same position it was in before the reseal?

Did you get your throttle indexed the same?

Sounds to me like you may have turned your full fuel screw in a hair too far upon reassembly. Back it out 1/2 turn and see what happens.
