High Idle Screw

Postby Begle1 » Mon Jul 16, 2007 8:39 am

So could somebody tell me what the high idle screw is good for? Why don't I just take it out?

Prevent internal pump damage when the throttle gets jammed wide open? Just a WAG...

So what does taking it out do? Let me go through higher RPMs?

If my old governor spring defueled at 2500, the pedal to the floor would get me to 3000 in under a minute. The new governor spring lets things go to 3000 faster, but I have to pull teeth to get it to 3200...

the high idle screw does nothing except mechanicaly limit the linkage travel. it wont increase or decrease the output of the pump other than to limit how far into it you can put your foot. the idle screw does the same thing on the other end of the spectrum.
