Emissions Testing

Postby Falcon » Mon Jan 08, 2007 2:36 pm

I don't know how many of you need to do this but what a pain in the arss and a bunch of bologna. Well with what I have done to my truck it passed, now to turn the fuel up more. I waited to see what it would run at before I turned it all the way up, the test said anything over 40 would fail mine ran with the snap test at 19. I didn't use the wallet under the throddle trick eather. Oh and in that small covered car port you test in a 4" straight pipe it sounds really cool and loud.

I have been thru Ct emissions twice already in mine...the first time was a "snap" test the second time on the rollers at 35 mph.
The first time being naive I rotated the fuel pin back to "dog" position and passed easily..less than 1%
The second time I left everything alone and passed easily at 1%.
My son also went thru in his 94 (heavily modified, talk about a smoker) and passed easily.

I'm convinced that it is pretty easy to pass. The guy at my last test he'd seen only one diesel fail in two years....an old Mercedes that was literally making everyone choke at an idle.

It isnt hard to pass in CO either. I had a 91 that smoked like none I've ever seen (still got 22-24mpg hwy), and passed with 11 points to spare.

The emissions and Safety inspections are all just revenue enhancements for the respective state. I would rather pay my fee in the form of a user tax at the DMV and make it a lot easier. Though I didnt have to get an inspection this year.

Arizona is the Opacity test. Not hard to pass, but sometimes the equipment malfunctions, and you only pay a 1/3rd of the normal annual fee.

That's what happened on my 93 last year. We'll see how it does this year with the switch from PODs to DDP4's.

Just had the 98 done yesterday, 4 out of a 40% allowed level.
