Good to hear that you got it back on the road! Are you going to make it to Schieds? If so I can bring my wrench.

Nah, don't think I'm gonna make it this time. Thanks for the offer though. If I need it before I get mine I'll let you know.

On the tophat thing? That's why I said to hook it up, then slide the throttle shaft thru. I been there, done that! I found my washer on the crossmember under the engine, and the pin on the ground.
Next time, I'll push the shaft thru!
Glad you got 'er going again!

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Pete showed me the spring first/shaft second method at last SOP. It worked well. I simply never tried it. Never had reason to untill then. I couldn't get the gov spring to "bite and hook" but then, I have never had six guys watching my every move either.  :(

Since then, I have had gov springs hook the first time, when I'm alone that is.

Thanks Pete.

the hard way

Postby seeker1056 » Fri Sep 07, 2007 12:50 pm

sounds awfully like the hard weay to me ;o)

its easier to push the top hat back thru the slot in the arm n just lift the whole thing out, sub the spring, and slide back down the slot - no muss no fuss
