I'm afraid of the ricer tip, I'm already having trouble keeping it hooked up in any gear but 5th with these wheels, even idling through town it gets sideways when I let the clutch out into the next gear. That tip would probably put me into the 5th gear range of my traction limits and I just don't think my lunchbox locker could handle that.
Pretty impressive what my truck is capable of when I have a reason to make it up...
Speaking of my diff, my drivetrain guy gave me a call yesterday. Turns out a fellow 1stgenner had a pinion problem on his 3.54 truck and brought him a 3.07 housing and gearset. Wanted him to put the 3.54 pow-r-lok in that housing with the 3.07 gears. How random is it that everything I went through perfectly applied to a job that came walking in his door not much later?
Dude apparently hot-shots with it, I suggested a 3.07 gear may be a bit much for a 1stgen that towed that heavy but it's what dude wanted. At least he knows it'll work.
Happy B-day, Andy, you looked into any aftermarket yokes that truck of yours? I bought a 1410 yoke for my front D60, it wasn't too bad. Maybe there's such an option for as 9"?
These guys seem to have one.
