So after looking at the thread for Ryan Millikan's new drag car on compd, and their delving into pipe diameter for optimum flow from a given compressor I spent some time working on the equation, and figuring how big of piping my truck actually needs.; Apparently the optimum velocity of air in a system is .4 Mach, or 440ft/sec (higher and the air itself becomes a restriction, lower and it just isn't optimal), and for every 90* bend there's a 1% flow loss (that includes multiple smaller bends that add up to 90*).; Anywho it looks like for my moderate compound setup ~3.2" I.d. Would be ideal for my 98lb/min primary.

I saw some reference to some new way of looking at such. I wonder if said math is considering a naturally aspirated engine.

went to the doc today (wife made me) for a horrible cough that I've had for over a week, and I found out I have bronchitis. I am on an antibiotic and a steroid.

I've got a horrible cough right now myself. The weather going from 30's to 60's every couple of days is killing me

Don't come to Mississippi then.....you'd shrivel up and die. It's been above 70 here for the last week. I'm luck to be healthy.

We were figuring it was for an unrestricted forced induction engine, as part of the equation I found was calculating for a 400hp turbo car.

Further research has yielded a member on cf (the thread is called ic piping, if anyone wanted to look at it) finding a calculation to determine volumetric efficiency of a fi engine, and some other fun stuff.

With my drive pressure now readable I got a wot run in after building some of a new rear bumper. 50psi overall, 30psi primary, 72psi drive pressure. Looks like I'll be loosening my gate some to try, and bring that dp down some.

70s isn't the problem its when it goes from 15-60 and back down to 15 in a week and a half is what gets me. Short sleeves and a jacket one day to coveralls and coat the next.

I mean 3" would be better, but I'm sure you'll be fine. The bit of 4" you have as it goes into the secondary is enough for the 150lb/min of both primaries though (4" is just a little inadequate for 170lb/min).

I was gonna get a fancy new exhaust manifold for my truck, but then I got around to hooking up a drive pressure gauge. I was suprised to find that all I had to do was loosen up the spring gate just a tad on the manifold turbo to get things to around 1:1. The most boost its seen so far is about 80 psi. 35 psi from the lp and dp was about 80-85.

Yeah, that's what I'm working on now. I backed my spring gate off a turn, and dropped 4psi of drive pressure, and boost didn't change at all.
