What would cause a NV4500 to not want to go into 1st? From the sounds of it I believe it's something in the top hat.

The one I just rebuilt. I didn't touch the top hat and every other gear is fine he said. It just won't go in first.

Maybe The syncrho is stuck.....Is It Lubed?

Yeah everything was lubed and all synchronizer hubs moved before I put the top cover on. I'm wondering if something is bent in the top hat from them slamming it into first to get it to move.

No luck on my pyro. The lighting works, and the stepper motor works, but it won't read anything.

If you are willing and able to provide your own labor and scrounge for deals on materials or find some used stuff, you can keep the cost down a lot. I built mine for $6980.00. It is a 24'x36' x 12' tall with a 12'x24' lean to off the back. I have an insulated 5' reinforced concrete floor with drains and waterlines installed for heated floor down the road. It has a metal roof, fiber cement siding, a 12'x10' commercial overhead door, a walk door and 3 tall windows. Those of you who have messed with the newer Powerstrokes, say 99-2001 vintage, what's a good replacement flexplate? My brother in law recently purchased one, as well as a tuner, and yesterday the flexplate broke in the same fashion then do on our trucks, around the bolts. He was gonna get a parts store replacement, but not sure they'd hold up, and doesn't feel a dealer one would be sufficient either.
Idk what's been done to it, but has an upgraded turbo, believe injectors, as well as a tuner, 12" suspension lift and 37" tires.
Any suggestions?

85 D350 single wheel, converted to cummins, getrag, turned up 2 turns and afc screw flush.

Sad day today. Attended the visitation of THE man that got me into 1st gens over 19 years ago, passed away suddenly last Sunday. One hell of a man. He owned three 1st gens, amongst several other Mopars, including a 383/4spd '70 Coronet Super Bee (my favorite B body). His son and I have stayed very close over the years (one of my best friends.). First thing his son asked me after the tears and bear hug was "I hope you brought the black beast in" and all I said "it's out front for both of you".

Drinking a few to him tonight...
