I've a bunch of Lee molds that I use the most.....because they're cheap. I'm fixing to be buying a few brass NOE molds for .223 to just try them.....plus Lee doesn't have what I want.
When I started fooling with casting bullets there were a lot of Lyman recommendations, problem with those (to me) are they are cast iron and the upkeep sucks. You can't oil them cuase you will have to clean it then cast about 50 times before you ever throw a good bullet. With the aluminum Lee mold, you have almost no worries. Lube the spruce plate, cast two times to warm the mold and your GTG. Only down side is you can over heat them and warp the mold body....so I've been told, never experienced it. I tend to try to cast two different size bullets and alternate between the two to keep the mold temps down while keeping myself busy. It also helps to have a damp, folded rag layen flat near by to help cool the molds some.
I'm hoping the hype I've had thrown my way about the brass molds pans out. Those bastards are high. At 92$ for just the mold halves and another 35$ for handles....that's 4X what the Lee stuff cost, with out the Lee lifetime warranty.
