Old motor or something? Is the gasket under the oil filter adapter? Are you using that factory oil cooler from the 350? If you are, they're bad to do things like that. Not to mention that they'll circulate trash from the old motor into the new :x. The trash well collect in the cooler and can get in the new motor by the filter bypass valve.

Its a 85 454 we put in it. It just has a goofy little nipple bolted to the motor. Im going to try a small block filter on it because something doesn't look right. Im hoping maybe it just has the wrong adapter. I tried using the 350s oil filter assembly with the oil cooler lines blocked off but it leaked around it like crazy.

Just as well andy, those things are junk :yuck: what weight oil you put in it?

Weird for the oil pump to fail. I personally have never seen one go bad,its always something else that causes the problem. Pressure spring in the pump might have relaxed if its set some,I have ran into that one time.

I have no idea what the heck happened. It was fine Thursday and came back sounding like a sewing machine. I really don't want to take this pos apart again.

At some point you have to say "Enough!", and walk away. Friend or not you have a life of your own that needs attention too.

Well i give up. I put a new high volume oil pump in it and a new oil pump shaft with pinned steel sleeve and still no oil pressure. Im about to push it over the hill and set it on fire.

There was some sludge in the pan and a in the oil pump itaelf. Everyone seems to think it may be plugged so going to try something later and see if it helps.
