The 92 is not a good skidder

Postby Richie O » Sun Nov 13, 2011 4:28 pm

Winched some wood out today. Pretty soft. And, I also found out when you stall a 12000 pound winch with the rear bumper chained to a tree to hold the truck it will rip the mounts off the frame.

You need some ground hogs or tractor treads to throw on that thing when you go out in the woods

Yes, got the hub caps dirty. :D I think I should just leave the truck on the hot top from now on. 8) I had a few trees way off the trail that I needed the 100 feet of cable to get out.

#1, I'm sure the 3k lbs of bumper didn't help on the soft ground.
#2, And here I thought even YOU were smart enough to hook the chain the the frame, not the tin bumper.

And here's the biggie, #3,
Why didn't you use the excavator or skid steer or something, dumbass?!

I hitched it to the bumper mounts, not the bumper. It broke the mount, then rolled the bumper. Just a work truck. Sounded pretty good when it tore too. I didn't use equipment because there were no trails to the wood. It was not my land, so I didn't want to go busting through the woods with a dozer. Just out having some fun. Wanted to play with the winch and my snatch blocks. I like rigging to pull stuff, so all is good.

I would put some real meaty tires on, but it is 99% hot top rig pulling a triaxle gooseneck trailer. I don't like beefy tires while hauling heavy. They don't handle well.

My tires dont handle well without anything behind it, i could only imagine its even worse when pulling a triaxle gooseneck trailer
