I was going there with the questions......as for the hydro lifters,I don't recall ever seeing one with them in there ether. What I do know is that with a roller lifter set up had them and if it was a reverse rotation cam with factory gear drive (boat)

Yeah a quick Google search answered it for me. I hope to have it in the truck tomorrow night.

Pretty sure this thing is going to be the death of me. Got the motor back in it and all it will do is backfire. Had my dad come look at it and he is baffled so waiting on my uncle the big block gooroo to come see what I'm missing. I've never had a vehicle fight me so hard to go back together.

You check the timing, made sure its the distributor is not 180 out? Classic deal.

Yeah that's what has us all puzzled. We have changes it several times now and just cant get it to do anything but backfire. Have it at #1 according to my GM book and have changed it 180 degrees. It had been a while since i built a GM engine so i followed the book when i had a doubt. The good news is i have oil up to the valve covers already just cranking it. This is the book i used.

Andy just stick your finger in the number one plug hole and have somebody bump it over, when your motors right on/before tdc it'll blow your finger out, then look and see if your rotary button is pointing right. I to fight this A LOT. Its easy to fubar

The way the manifold is on it i cant get my finger on #1. My big ass hands get in the way. We thought it might be valve train related so pulled valve covers and watched it. Its just being a biotch.

So my uncle came over tonight and had it running in 20 minutes. Everything is new in the pos and it still has no oil pressure. Only thing we can think is the oil filter adapter is messed up. Im ready to scream. Took my birthday off to work on this pos.
