Well after messing with it i finally got 20psi of oil preasure but as soon as you idle the engine up it looses oil psi. Im guessing a spun bearing someplace in there.

Could the pressure relief or whatever is in there be popping off?

I bought a new setup that the oil filter screws to and it didnt change. I got the engine loose today and it looks like it will more then likely be my truck. Should know by middle of the week.

Well after working 14+ hours the other day i got it back out and tore down. It had one spun rod bearing and a little wear on 2 mains. Im still not sure why it wouldnt build more then 20psi. It only hit that a couple times then wouldn't build again. Had the block, crank and flywheel sent to machone shop.

Okay so i finally got all the parts back from the machine shop and started putting this thing back together but i screwed up and dropped a piston breaking it. So does anyone have a .30 over flat top piston with 2 valve reliefs for a 454? I found one threw Summit but figured id ask anyway.

Well i tripped and dropped the piston to keep from splitting my head open on the block. I was highly pissed though.

Take it from the recently injured, be thankful it was a piston! ;) I was out of work for a week, I could have lost a finger, but ended up with 8 stitches.

That was me, all alone up in the far parking lot at the State Fair grounds, finger pinned between the sprocket and frame on the skid steer, and going "Oh Siht!". I got it out, wrapped it in gauze and sat there for 10 or 15 minutes while I watched bleeding and accessed the situation. Stopped bleeding, check. Call boss, check. Pick up tools and head for shop, check. Go to Urgent Care and get fixed, check! 8 stitches and a week off later, it still hurts some. ;)
