How I spent my last three days

Postby redneckroot » Fri Feb 24, 2012 10:14 pm

Finally getting caught up on some of my ideas/projects that have been kicking around. Since my parts haven't come in for my 205 yet I figured I'd get to welding up some things to help get my logs out of the woods.

Log hauler. Good thing my dad is letting me use his tn70. Hauled a few loads already this morning. Worked out 100% better then the dump wagon. The lack of frozen ground this winter has been a challenge. But fire wood helps get parts for the truck projects.

You ever have any problems with it sinking loaded?

Only used it a few times so far. It doesn't sink, but if you stop in mud your going to have a bad day trying to get it moving. Biggest problem is turning it and deep ruts. I had to stop once in mud took two tractors to get it moving again. In the field it pulls super easy.

The construction company I worked for had similar setup I drug around with a Komatsu track loader and it was a pain in the arse to get moving.

After using the skid more the only real problem that we have run into is if you stop in the wrong spot. If you stop in an area where there is clay ground under the mud it does not want to get moving again easily. I think if we really loaded it heavy we would have problems, but I'd rather keep lighter loads 8-10 16ft logs then spend 5 hours getting stuck every 10 feet. We are going to try hooking it to our oc-12 to try and avoid rutting the woods up any worse. We tore it up pretty bad when using our dump wagon. That was about 6 hours of hell to get back out of the woods. Ended up dumping the load and skidding it with the 1920 two logs at a time.
